The Szekszárd region, which covers 2,300 hectares, is part of the larger Pannonia region located in the south of Hungary. The main grape variety is Kékfrankos, a local grape which provides the backbone of Bikavér. The highest quality grapes are picked every autumn regardless of weather conditions; to achieve this, the vineyards are cultivated with the utmost care. The grapes are both picked and selected strictly by hand, guaranteeing only the very best are used in the winemaking process. “I think our wines have been continually improving, becoming more refined and elegant in the process. They have become more sophisticated, tighter, less oaky and the characteristics of the grapes are more tangible.” – Csilla Sebestyén
